Charles Burchfield

I ran across one of Charles Burchfield‘s paintings while searching “sun through the trees” (I’m a big fan of google ‘sploring) and instantly wanted to see more of his work. I really like the his color palette and how he mixed landscapes with the abstract. Here are a couple facts I also found out about him:

-He was a contemporary of Edward Hopper

-At one time he worked for the military as a “camofleur.”

-He used a personal shorthand to add sounds of frogs, cicadas, etc into his work.
