Masquerade

These costumes for the African Masquerade Ceremonies are amazing. I love the textures, patterns and colors! I did a cursory search on the internet for more information on Masquerade, but came up rather shorthanded. It seems the ceremony dates back all the way to th 14th century, and is practiced mainly in West Africa as well as the Caribbean. I may have to take a trip to the library to find out more about it. These lovely photos are taken by Phyllis Galembo.
